Attending CSM

While I was shoveling out my driveway after our big snowstorm, my young neighbor came over to help me.  While taking a break, he told me that he was a sophomore in high school, and was planning on attending CSM's criminal justice program because he had heard so many great things about it.  What a nice comment, and so well deserved.  Ed Schauf and his instructors have done a great job in developing a high quality academic program.  That comment sure made the shoveling easier!

Snow!

Snow

Snowfalls are always a difficult event, particularly when Mitchell Road is your only way to reach the La Plata Campus.   This past snowfall was so severe that it didn't matter whether the campus was on a main road or not…the campus could not open on Monday.  But, that posed a problem, as Monday was the last day of finals.  What I quickly learned was that we did not have a final exam make-up day.  We will in the future.  The cancellation of classes on Saturday and Monday caused havoc with the ability of students to complete their courses.  Debra Tervala, our V.P. of Academic Affairs provided strong leadership through a difficult situation.  We will weather this storm, and become stronger as a result of it.

Coffee with the President

Joel Kinison was kind enough to tape my remarks at the last Coffee with the President.  Here is the link, should you wish to hear them:

President's Blog

Welcome to my new blog site. I think this is a great way for employees, students, and friends of CSM to keep up with what is going on at the college and community. It will be highly personal and hopefully, informative. I want to thank Sue Subocz and Joel Kinison, and the IT folks for help in getting it established.

I hope that you will not only keep up with the blog, but also post your comments/feedback.
